I guess the potential revenue source outweighs its commitment to pace of play. Ironic that just when the Tour is finally banning green books since it regards green reading as a skill that should differentiate players, the USGA is providing the same maps to every amateur in an app.

Definitely uses Golflogix in the background. Heck I've seen guys plumb bob shots from 50 yards out and THEN go through their pre-shot routine which may include practice swings and Sergio-like waggles. Basically taking way too long to play a shot that just ain't all that important. Those guys slow down the pace of play and lessen other players' enjoyment of their rounds. On one hand the USGA and PGA tour are about to outlaw green books for pros as they are seen are unfair aids to players that don't have the skill to read the greens themselves, sort of like caddies standing behind the player to line up a putt before that rule was changed.

On the other hand the USGA is tacitly endorsing their use at the weekend hacker level primarily imo because it wants the revenue from it. Disappointing, but not all that surprising I guess. There are so many bigger problems contributing to slow play. May actually be the recommended way to use it, IMHO.

But I can see some rounds where I can track stats while playing. May take some adjusting because I don't use a phone while playing at all Because garmin S Heat view has fewer direction changes via arrows than the putt map. At my club, green view is not available for any of the courses. We have three 9s which rotate on a weekly basis making up the main 18 for the week with the other 9 being the 9 hole only option for the week.

One of the 18 hole combos view is also not available. You may have to view them as 9s alone and not combined? There's a local 9-hole muni near me and I was genuinely shocked they even have those mapped. Of the two courses I have been playing going on years now, I know the breaks. The maps are pretty accurate just looking at them on the phone. I did. Yesterdays TNML was rained out.

But, will be playing today and Monday. Todays round, I will reference the maps, but I know the greens see above very well. From what I've seen, they're quite accurate. It's just a matter of interpreting them. I'm playing a course I play times a year on Monday, so it may be of more use then. One of the big things I'm giddy about is the breaks away from the greens front or near pin. Next Q: anyone know the grid spacing? Is it by yard?

Didn't find that info yet. I think it may be. Ping G 5 hybrid-not much use. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Paste as plain text instead. Only 75 emoji are allowed. Display as a link instead.
